Overview

Helm Navigation Inc. ("Helm", "we", "us") operates the Helm Navigation directory and AI Navigator at helmnavigation.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

We do not sell personal information to third parties. We do not serve advertising.

Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the directory:

Waitlist signups — your email address when you join the waitlist or early-access list.
Provider submissions — name, organisation, contact details, and service information submitted through the "List Your Practice" form.
Provider claim requests — contact details and verification information submitted when claiming a provider listing.
Feedback form responses — any information you voluntarily submit via the Tally feedback form.

We do not collect location data, device identifiers, or browsing history. We do not require account registration for directory access.

How We Use Your Information

Waitlist emails are used to notify you when early access or new features become available. We send these emails via Loops. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Provider submission data is used to create and maintain your listing in the Helm directory and to contact you about your listing.
Claim request data is used to verify ownership of a provider listing and communicate the outcome of your request.

AI Navigator

The AI Navigator uses your browser's sessionStorage to maintain conversation context during your visit. This data exists only in your browser tab and is automatically deleted when the tab is closed. It is never sent to Helm servers, never retained after your session ends, and never used for any purpose other than continuity within your current visit.

AI Navigator conversations are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. Messages you send are transmitted to Anthropic's servers to generate responses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing: anthropic.com/privacy.

Do not include sensitive personal or medical information in Navigator messages.

Third-Party Services

Helm uses the following third-party services to operate the platform:

Algolia — powers provider search and filtering in the directory. Search queries are processed by Algolia's servers. Algolia Privacy Policy
Anthropic — processes AI Navigator conversations via the Claude API. Anthropic Privacy Policy
Loops — sends waitlist and early-access emails. Your email address is stored in Loops when you sign up. Loops Privacy Policy
SendGrid (Twilio) — used for transactional email delivery (e.g., provider verification emails). Twilio Privacy Policy
Tally — hosts the feedback form. Responses are stored by Tally. Tally Privacy Policy
Cloudflare — provides hosting, content delivery, and security for helmnavigation.ca. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata as part of its infrastructure. Cloudflare Privacy Policy

We do not share your personal information with these services beyond what is required for them to perform their function.

Data Retention

We retain provider submission and claim data for as long as the listing remains active in the directory, or until you request deletion. Waitlist email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request removal.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email us at hello@helmnavigation.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies and Local Storage

Helm uses a single browser cookie (helm_region) to remember your selected or detected region, so you are directed to the correct regional directory on return visits. This cookie contains only the region identifier (e.g., "windsor"), expires after 30 days, and is not used for tracking or advertising.

No third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies are set by helmnavigation.ca.

Children's Privacy

Helm Navigation is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at hello@helmnavigation.ca.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
